mushrooms and tennis skirts. day one-hundred-thirteen

IMG_3307
I still cannot really believe this is the last day of November! What happened??? It has flown by, I am really holding onto fall colors like crazy, they just are good for my complexion and I pretty much wear them all year round but not a full outfit of fall. This is totally fall. I had fun this day running around snapping selfies  in Downtown GH, I normally chose to do my city shots with friends so I don't look silly (even though it still probably looks really silly to outsiders) but I have decided...WHATEVER. I really am trying to overcome my insecurities and what better way than to act-a-fool in public. Plus maybe I will meet new people this way, people who instead of judging stop and say, HEY whatcha doin? I know if I saw someone doing the same i would instantly think BLOGGER ALERT and make try to make a new blogger friend! Fellow bloggers, what are your thoughts on self shots downtown? Do you try them? Do you feel silly?

I have also decided to begin including some of my photography in my blog posts, my mom suggested it and you know shes right, why not? I will try to include at least 2 shots in each post of something non-fashion related. I have always enjoyed taking photographs but just never thought myself any good, it has been really fun to go back through some old photos. I have about 100GB of photos on my computer.

Since I really have no idea what I am doing in the photography area i have a knack for shots like this, totally imperfect in a perfect kind of way. At least I enjoy my photography, and since I am the one with the 100GB to look at that's probably a good thing.

Nature/flower shots like this are my favorite. I have always dreamed of having an amazing macro-lens/camera and getting some insane shots. Its the scientist in me. I would love to have a camera that could take shots of bug scales, individual feathers on a bird etc, like a microscope style :D. Flowers like this are making me miss summer/fall but i love the colors....as we get into winter I will probably include many flower shots just to remind us that Spring will begin again!

Even though November is nearing the end, I am really looking forward to December. My goals are to redesign the blog a bit (the main thing I want to do is make a page that is like a calendar with a photo/link to each post/day, I have NO IDEA how to do this but I am hoping that doing the Blog(Design)Love course from Red Velvet will help!), get the vintage store up and running, finish sewing projects, actually have a real contest on the blog, and do an interview (that's a lot but its gonna happen!). Throughout December I get to see the boy quite a bit, am hoping to hear good news about the potential job (or a different one) and spend lots of time with family and friends! I am also excited to make a snowman, attempt snowboarding again, go sledding and drink vegan hot chocolate! What are you looking forward to this December?

Christmas tree time! day one-hundred-twelve.

IMG_3134
So we have a post Thanksgiving tradition in my family of going and cutting down our own Christmas tree! We go to Prince Trees right down the dirt-road from us and adventure out to find the best tree. Last year i was here all the way from Alabama and took a tree from here all the way back! This year my sister and her fiance got one (they did last year too) and of course the parents (or roommates ;)) got one! What is weird is we normally get TWO trees and because of the animals we opted to get one. Anyway i wore this outfit and felt like an elf and ran around in the fresh snow field! Also I have some other photos from the day :) enjoy.

We had a really interesting time trying to take 'family' photos with all the animals. Someone should have been videotaping it because the audio was hilarious. Hedwig (the cat I am holding) was screaming bloody murder, my dad was trying to get the dogs to stay and the other cats were equally excited but less vocal. Needless to say this is the BEST shot we got...there are some seriously hilarious outtakes which will be on the Facebook page sometime soon.

Rue (the red one) just would not hold still to save my life. But don't they both look cute in their holiday bandanas (Lily's is actual my John Deere one but its close right).

Anyway this outfit just made me really excited for Holiday season. I cannot wait to see all sorts of people I don't get to spend much time with. And I have been jamming out like mad to Sufjan Stevens Christmas Album 'Silver and Gold'. There are some weird ones but my favorites are "Do you hear what i hear" and "Santa Claus is Comin to Town". I highly recommend it because its seriously every Christmas song ever. Anywayyyssss still cannot believe November is almost done!

post thanksgiving. day one-hundred-eleven.

IMG_2966
I know it seems like SO LONG ago but i just had the most wonderful thanksgiving. Honestly i had this whole outfit planned and never wore it and was a complete mess the whole day from a hangover but by the time the food came out (and thanks so much to Jean for making me my own vegan thanksgiving meal) i was ready to eat! It was so nice to be surrounded by amazing people I got to meet many of the boy's friends and family members and it was just great. The day after Thanksgiving was kind of sad because i had to head back home, its hard being in a long distance relationship but it definitely has its benefits as well! Again lots of layers for traveling times, especially when stopping at all the toll lines rolling down windows ;) layers come in handy.

the road to chicago. day one-hundred-ten.

IMG_2948
When I go to Chicago I normally like to take the train, and now I remember why. OH MY GOSH driving in the city is just a disaster! So I headed to Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with Tim's family and because I was doing an overnight babysitting the night before I couldn't make the train Wednesday morning, so I had to drive. Things were fine until I got into what i call "toll zone". Then it was stop and go for about 2 hours (normally a 20 minute drive) all the way to Lincoln Park where he lives. MY GOSH....I will continue to avoid driving into the city like the plague. IDIOT ME i forget that there is the train from Michigan City that runs all day, that would have been the much better option. Oh well it was an experience. So these photos are right after I got to Chicago, my makeup and hair are all in a tizzy so real life here folks (kind of like always but i usually at least powder my face so im not all shiny!) ;).

IMG_2946Becasuse of this I can no longer complain about driving in the city, because it will be my own fault for attempting to drive there again. So if you hear it again this year please call me out. Thanks :)
